Amsterdam: The 16th edition of the National Foal Auction Prinsjesdag has been extremely succesful. The auction began somewhat quietly- as if the buyers had indeed been a bit overwhelmed by the bad financial news that previously that day had emerged from America. Quite a few extemely good foals went for rather attractive prices.
But then very quickly the renowned Prinsjesdag atmosphere in the crowded Willem-Alexander Hall picked up and the foals of the elite collection 2008 began to go at a brisk pace. Jan Vink of Black Horses bought the most expensive foal for his Ethiopian stepson. It was the majestic and good mover Dream King (Montender x Pearl Queen ‘keur’ of Fedor x Wisconsin). This imposing stallion had auctioneer Hans Sinnige busy calling out until the hammer fell at € 28,000.
The foals for show jumping were the most expensive: number 3 (with € 23,000) is also destined for a career in jumping: Acarola (Carolus II x Lansing and then the international show jumper mare Libelle of Angelique Hoorn) yielded € 23,000. The filly of high blood D-Day (Berlin x Heartbreaker x Recruut) reached € 19,500.
The extremely remarkable mover dressage foal Dark Brown (Sir Donnerhall x Litchy ‘keur pref sport-dres’ of Ferro, dam to Painted Black and Zizi-Top) went for € 22,000.
The total turnover amounted to € 608,500; the average came out at € 9,814.52.
