In 2009 the Selected Winners Sale will not be taking place. Due to the uncertain position in which Dutch Trotting and Dutch Racing finds itself- combined with the financial and economic crisis- the organizing committee does not consider the organization of an auction to be a responsible act.
The committee has obligations toward the suppliers and the entrants: a good organizing committee has a duty to make a sound budget in advance of events. However, the degree of uncertainty at the present time is so great that the current estimate shows a substantial shortfall. It is for this reason, therefore, that the decision to cancel the 2009 edition was taken. We hope that, in 2010, the situation will have recovered to such an extent that we will be back on track and have the opportunity to organize a sucessful 16th edition.
Of course, the organizing committee finds these present circumstnaces extremely regrettable. Many of our faithful entrants must now seek other outlets in order to sell their yearlings. Our enthusiastic buyers of past auctions are now robbed of their ideal auction house for their classic winners.
The SWS Z-series has been fabulously successful. Zjanti River and Zaskia Fortuna won the two-year-olds classics. Mara di Quattro is a sensation. Zar As crushed his opponents twice. Key of Life Diamant is the German favourite for the Derby and Zanymede Fortuna is yet to be beaten. Hopefully this string of successes will be repeated in 2010. .jpg)
